Barley, spring  Planning

Tasks for disease manangment during a full growing season.

Hvornår udføres opgaverne?

Tidspunktet for udførelse af opgaverne afhænger af afgrødens udviklinstrin.

Strategiske overvejelser

Report to Crop Protection Online.

Follow registrations of diseases on a regional level.

Susceptibility of different cultivars to diseases may be studied infield plots for observation.

Resistance characteristics may be studied.

Fra midten af maj til ca. 1. juli.I de tidlige vækststadier er det især meldug der skal holdes øje med. Fra vs 30 er det alle sygdomme.
Wheat, spring 0 - 0 Not fully implemented in English version …
Wheat, winter  Summary
Tasks relating to disease control throughout a full growing season.

Not fully implemented in English version …
Summary
The correct timing of different tasks depend on the crop growth stage.

Strategic considerations
The most imporatant single element of disease control is the protection of the crop ear, which normally explains about 70% of the gained net yield increase due to disease control.

Furthermore, depending on actual level of disease attach, the resistence characteristics of the crop cultivar, it can be necessacary to apply an earlier application of fungicides too.

0 - 0 Consider crop rotation, time of sowing, and seed treatment in order to prevent take-all.

Not fully implemented in English version …
Pre sowing.

Take-all is in particular a crop rotation disease, which are most likely to appear on light soils with a large proportion of winter wheat in the crop rotation.

See Danish leaflet on Take-all (March 2003).

Rye, winter  Summary

29 - 33 Inspect for eye spot. From 20th April until the beginning of May.

.

Treatment against eye spot must be made in rye only when grown after another cereal crop in combination with a early drilling and a mild and moist period in October/November.

.

Barley, winter  Summary
Tasks relating to disease control throughout a full growing season.

Not fully implemented in English version …
Summary
The correct timing depend on the growth stage of the crop.

Strategical consideration
In most years a single application against diseases will be sufficient in winter barley.

Only when severe attacks appear early 2 applications can be considered.

30 - 71 Inspect for mildew, barley rust, leaf spot and
scald once a week.

Report to Crop Protection Online
From the end of April until the middle of June.

.

Barley rust is the most severe disease in winter barley.
After that leaf spot follows, while scald and mildew are the least severe diseases.

.

Tricitale, winter  Summary
Tasks relating to disease control throughout a full growing season.

Not fully implemented in English version …
Summary
The correct timing depend on the crop growth stage.

Strategical considerations
Often it will not be profitable to treat against diseases in triticale, but mildew and yellow rust in particular can release a need for treatment in susceptible cultivars.

29 - 33 Inspect for eye spot. From about 20th April until the beginning of June.

Eye spot must be controlled only when more than 35% of the plants have been infested.

Only plants which show symptoms on two upper leaves must be counted as 'ïnfested' during field inspection.

Oats, spring  Summary
Tasks relating to disease control throughout a full growing season.

Not fully implemented in English version …
Summary
The correct timing depend on the crop growth stage.

Strategical considerations
Disease control in oats is only rarely profitable. Mildew is the only disease of importance, and this disease will appear differently between years and locations. Therefore, it is relevant to evaluate the actual need.

 26 - 61 Inspect for mildew once a week.

Report to Crop Protection Online.

Not fully implemented in English version …
From the middle of May until the beginning of July.

Hold især øje med melduggen i områder med meget tæt plantebestand.

Oilseed rape, winter 60 - 69 Follow the monitoring of sclerotinia.

Not fully implemented in English version …
In 1st half of May.

Treatments against sclerotinia can be considered during full flowering when the yellow petals are beginning to fall.

Barley/Peas 0 - 0 Not fully implemented in English version …
Beet root, sugar 0 - 0 Not fully implemented in English version …
