Circular to egg-shaped with entire leaf margins. Stalked. The surface is smooth (hairy stalk). Length approx. 6 mm.

Almost circular and somewhat flattened. The surface is finely nubbly with the burls in curving rows. One notch in the peripheral edge. Thousand grain weight approx. 0.6 g.

Biology

Propagation and dispersal

Habit
Summer and winter annual.

Importance

The species is the most common weed in Denmark. It is found in all types of crops. In case of dense populations where the plant forms a carpet in the crop, Common Chickweed can cause quite severe losses in all types of crops. In seed fields of White Clovere and small-seed grasses Common Chickweed is an injurious weed because it is difficult to separate the seeds.
